How It Works

We ship you a system that takes about 20 minutes to set-up. That's all.

The base unit can be placed on a countertop or mounted on the wall. The sensors - motion detector, door/window contacts and panic pendant - are all wireless.

Initial system set-up is done via the web by the system administrator. In most instances, your SimplyHome representative is your administrator. This set-up requires a few simple steps to input the key contact information of caregivers (including email address, cell phone number). Once the contact information is input, caregivers and consumers set rules such as:
  • If the front door is ever open after 8 p.m. and before 6 a.m., send an email and text message to Jane Doe.

  • If the motion detector in the bathroom does not detect activity from 5-8 a.m. (indicating the individual is not up and about), send an email to Jane Doe and a text message to John Smith.

  • If the back door is EVER opened (it's supposed to remain shut), send a text message to John Smith.

  • The panic pendant can be set to send email/cell phone text messages to one or more caregivers.

Once the set-up is saved and password protected, future updates or changes by the system administrator can be quickly accomplished via the web or PDA.

Best of all? The system uses industry-leading GE wireless equipment so costly re-wiring is not necessary. It also does not rely on a phone line--all data is transmitted over a 2-way wireless network.

NOTE: These monitoring services and supports are not for everyone and should not be used as a substitute when the presence of a caregiver is required, but:
  • They can provide supports for independent living to more consumers than you might imagine!

  • This system is not a canned system for everyone. It is individualized for the needs of every consumer providing maximum flexibility.

  • The supports do not utilize or require a Central Monitoring Station.
